Shah Rukh Khan lashes back at Gavaskar

Shah Rukh Khan, owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders, has hit back at Sunil Gavaskar's comments about franchise coach John Buchanan, and asked Gavaskar to stay away from issues concerning his IPL team.

In his column for the Hindustan Times, Gavaskar termed Buchanan a "failed former cricketer making a living telling international players to do what he couldn't do". It has not gone down well with the IPL franchise, which last week tried to put a lid on the controversy generated by Buchanan's theory of multiple captains by releasing a statement that during a game the team would resort to a group of "strategists" who would report to one on-field captain while making decisions.

Khan has come to Buchanan's defence, saying there was a marked difference in the time Gavaskar played and now. "I respect Mr Gavaskar - his knowledge about cricket is a billion times better than me," Khan told reporters in Mumbai. "But this is an era where Mr Gavaskar has not indulged in; nevertheless his knowledge about the game does allow him to make comments.

"This is a new format that's being tried out. Please give it some breathing space. I am the owner of the team, I bought it. If he wants to implement something, let him buy a team."

Gavaskar was scathing of Buchanan in his column, saying the former Australian coach had a way with words in India, a country Gavaskar said had few people capable of defusing opinion makers. "To comment on his multiple skipper theory is to give it the importance it doesn't deserve but what does require comment is how he has got his Queensland pals lucrative jobs with KKR," wrote Gavaskar. "They have a very big support staff which includes his son and most of them are from Queensland. The owners - poor souls - have little idea that they are being milked."

Gavaskar also said the Indian media granted unwarranted importance to Buchanan. "In India, where the media lives by the sound bite, Buchanan is a regular. If the Indian media had not made him out to be a 'super coach', he would have been just another failed former cricketer making a living telling international players to do what he couldn't at the first-class level," he wrote.

Buchanan's radical theory had stirred a controversy on the eve of the team's departure to South Africa, forcing a nearly four-hour long meeting between Buchanan, Sourav Ganguly, Khan and Jai Mehta, who owns a stake in the team, in Mumbai. A subsequent statement released by Kolkata stressed that there would be only one captain, who would be fed with suggestions from this core group of strategists.

No more guest appearances for Shah Rukh!

Guess what’s Shah Rukh Khan’s New Year resolution? Not to do any more guest appearances or cameo roles in films for friends!

Yes, the Bollywood Badshah has come to this reluctant decision even though his short and special appearances have often proved to be the good luck factor for filmmakers close to him. It’s done always as a gesture of love and goodwill — at no charge, and, at best, takes just two days out of the superstar’s busy schedule. Yet SRK has said enough is enough, “I always end up hurting myself.”

The actor, who is busy shooting for Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan in LA, admitted that he’s going to stick by his resolution. He’s done many guest appearances recently, including films like Achanak, Army, M F Husain’s Gaja Gamini, Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega, Samar Khan’s Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye, Saathiya, Boney Kapoor’s Shakti — The Power, Khalid Mohammed’s Silsilay, Alag and Karan Johar’s Kaal, Sajjid Nadiadwala’s Heyy Baby, Rakesh Roshan’s Krazy 4, and Ravi Chopra’s Bhootnath. But, he dislikes being mentioned in the publicity of the films because it sends the wrong signal and viewers then expect him to have a larger role in the films.

If sources are to be believed, the big fallout between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh last year came after the Bollywood Badshah refused to do a guest appearance in Sohail Khan’s film Main Aur Mrs Khanna starring Salman and Kareena Kapoor. But Sohail’s dates clashed with Vivek Vaswani’s Dulha Mil Gaya which was already awaiting a guest appearance by SRK to be complete. He might just bend his resolution for Vivek Sharma’s Kal Kisne Dekha because Vivek has worked in his office for 14 years. But that again depends on Shah Rukh’s schedule once he returns from LA. And how strong or weak he is about keeping New Year resolutions.

SRK's New Spikey avatar in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

We bring you the first pics of SRK's new look in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. ShahRukh was seen sporting complete spiky hair, electric blue shirts and some sporty Ray Bans shooting with Anushka. King khan was seen with his co-start Anushka Sharma at the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

There's also a speculation that SRK has a double role in the movie and this being one of his avatars. Shahrukh Khan continues his popular trend of introducing a top model to the big screen ala Amrita Rao in ‘Mai hoon Na’ and Deepika Padukone in ‘Om Shanti Om’. This time around, supermodel Anushka Sharma makes her debut opposite Shahrukh in Rab ne bana di jodi. Rab ne bana di jodi reunites buddies Aditya Chopra and Shahrukh Khan, 12 years after the mega blockbuster Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

And when the movie gets big, let the expectations go higher and you still would not be disappointed ! After the super hit soundtracks of Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and Mohabbatein music lovers have great expectations from Aditya Chopra's next Movie Rab Ne Banadi Jodi

The Music for Rab ne bana di jodi would be composed by Salim Sulaiman. No, this time its not the super hit pair and Adi's favourite pair Jatin-Lalit. Though fans of jatin Lalit would be disappointed with this, Salim Sulaiman have humongous task to live upto the expectations of music lovers. It is rumoured that they have been offered this project after the hit sound track of last year's biggest hit, Chakde India which was also a Yash Raj Film. It would be interesting to watch out for the Music release of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and also the Music Review of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

4 Crores of loss due to Rain for RNBDJ

The heavy rain which slashed Mumbai few weeks destroyed the sets of Rab ne Bana Di Jodi. The sets of the climax scenes were completely washed away in rain. Aditya Chopra suffered a heavy loss of around 4 crores for the reconstruction of sets. Whats more?....the schedule of the movie work is a little delayed because of the unforeseen crisis.

Speculations are that this could also postpone the release date of the movie. The movie is scheduled to release on december 12th 2008. This movie was shot relatively quickly when compared to Adi's previous ventures. We hope Rab ne Bana Di Jodi makes it by 12th Decemeber 2008!

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi not just a Simple Love Story?

All the speculation that Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi being a clean, simple and fresh love story may not turn out to be true. According to sources in the industry, Rab ne Bana Di Jodi could be a more complex love story than what was initially rumoured. With Anant Narayan now rumored to be the third important character in Rab ne bana di jodi, the story could be a Love Triangle.

Yash Raj Films has always stuck to this super hit formula all these years producing numerous hits with love triangles. Movies like Silsila, Darr, Dil to Pagal Hai etc are just a few of the many. The basic formula could be the same, but Yash Raj treats every story differently in every movie for sure. It would be interesting to see how Rab ne bana di jodi would shape up in the new era of thriller movies.
