After receiving the award from Finance Minister P Chidambaram, Ambani said if he was described as the World’s Richest Man in the year 2007, this year he would like to be known as the man responsible for rural transformation in India.
But when questioned as to whether making millions was in the family genes, Senior Ambani had an interesting take.
”I really think that when we were brought up the riches business amused me but you need a certain amount to get there. Beyond that it doesn’t make any difference. I think what is important is the satisfaction you get in executing business models and making sure you are generating something that is economically sustainable.
”You are building institutions that will last beyond you. It’s not just the gene, it’s the opportunity in India and our ability,” he said.
